How to Internet #
September 3rd, 2011 | In Worth Knowing
I filled in for Lloyd over at Lone Gunman this week, and decided to write a series rather related to the fact that I was doing that at all. It’s called How to Internet and it’s about all those tools I use everyday on the internet but which are relatively unknown to large swaths of the internet population. It has seven parts:
- The Introduction
- Why? — A somewhat self-indulgent explanation of why the series exists.
- Dividing Attention — An explanation of where to spend your time on the internet, which is a mix of specific recommendations and general guidelines.
- Staying Current — In which I extoll the value of RSS and explain how I deal with the onslaught I’ve piped into my house.
- Reading — A primer on the essential tools for reading on the internet, which are for me printer-friendly pages, Readable, and Instapaper. (I do mention alternatives in the piece.)
- Publishing — In which I say you should probably use Tumblr or WordPress, but whatever tool you use it’s more important that you keep using it.
- Epilogue — A short essay in which I feel I explained the series better than I did in either of the first two sections.

This post has no tags. Metadata is certainly a gift to the future, but this post was bad this year and didn't get any presents. |
